About Mad Money Media

Mad Money Media exists because most writing about the creator economy either oversells it or ignores the business side entirely. We wanted a publication that treats independent media the way a trade publication treats any other industry: with real numbers, real trade-offs, and no assumption that one monetization model fits every creator.

We cover seven areas of this economy: the creator economy broadly, digital publishing operations, audience development, advertising revenue, brand sponsorships, newsletter businesses, and podcast monetization. Each one gets its own coverage because the economics genuinely differ. What works for a 200,000-download podcast doesn't map cleanly onto a 3,000-subscriber newsletter, and we don't pretend otherwise.

Our editorial line is simple. We never guarantee creator income, promise viral growth, or publish revenue figures we can't reasonably source or estimate. We don't present gross revenue as personal profit, and we don't hide platform fees, ad-tech cuts, or production costs behind a headline number. When we cite outside data, we name the source. When something is our own opinion or estimate, we say so plainly.

Mad Money Media's primary audience is in the United States, with meaningful readership in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and other English-speaking markets. Our coverage is written to be useful regardless of where a reader's audience happens to be, since platform fees and ad economics tend to work similarly across borders even when tax rules don't.

The site is currently written by Jordan Blake, a creator-economy and digital-media writer who covers online publishing, advertising, sponsorships, newsletters, podcasts, subscriptions, and the unglamorous parts of running a sustainable media business. You can read more on our Authors page.

If you're building an audience or running a publication and think we got something wrong, or missed a real number worth including, tell us. We'd rather correct a figure than leave it standing.
